2020 Operation Christmas Child Launched

July 21, 2020

It’s true! There is “Christmas in July!”

The PebbleCreek Community Church (PCCC) has announced the launch of our annual mission project, “Operation Christmas Child.”

Operation Christmas Child is an international Christian mission, sponsored by Samaritan’s Purse, a nondenominational evangelical Christian organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world. Samaritan’s Purse has helped meet needs of people who are victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease, and famine with the purpose of sharing God’s love through His Son, Jesus Christ. The organization serves the Church worldwide to promote the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Since 1995, the PebbleCreek Community Church, in conjunction with Samaritan’s Purse International Relief, has sponsored and packed shoeboxes filled with special Christmas gifts for needy children around the world.

Each year, hundreds of PebbleCreek Church members sponsor shoeboxes and volunteer to gather items, pack and ship those shoeboxes to children that may have never received a gift in their lives.

In 2019, our congregation helped to bring thousands of children to Jesus through Operation Christmas Child. PebbleCreek Community Church packed a record 1,684 shoeboxes with gifts for kids of all ages. Shoe boxes were shipped to more than 100 foreign countries and distributed through local mission churches.

As the novel coronavirus continues to spread and cause untold suffering, children need Good News and Great Joy now more than ever. They need the hope found only in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This year will not be normal year for Operation Christmas Child. We are altering our normal processes to continue reaching needy children with the word of Christ.

Our planning team has laid out an operational plan for 2020. Below is a brief summary of our plan.

  • There will be no church packing parties this year.

  • Your family can, however, sponsor simple shoeboxes by buying school supplies, such as crayons ($.25 for box of 24, pencils ($.97 for box of 24), colored pencils ($.97 each box of 12). School supplies are in the stores now at great prices.

  • Decorated shoe boxes will also be available to our congregation. Distribution of these boxes will be announced soon. We ask each family to pack as many boxes as possible.

  • PCCC will be making free items available to put in your shoe boxes including tooth brushes, wooden cars, wooden crosses and hopefully some girls’ dresses. Pickup location for these supplies will be announced soon.

  • Watch for good deals in stores for your shoe boxes.

  • PCCC Collection Day will be on Sunday, November 22nd.

  • PRAY for the children that will receive your shoe boxes.

Our goal for 2020 is to break our record from 2019. If each of our 200 families pack 9 shoeboxes, we will bring smiles to the faces of many needy children around the world. And even more important, they will learn about Jesus Christ and the His Good Word.

If you would like to volunteer, please call Edna DeFord.

“…Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it." And he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them." - Mark 10:13
